Crap Web Hosting

I have spent hours watching videos and reading ebooks to work out how to put a wordpress blog onto all my adsense sites. Theory is done and so onto the practical. Would you believe it - my web hosting package does not support MySQL......

I queried this with my hosts who told me that their 'expert plan' does not include MySQL. However for another large amount of money I can upgrade to have 6 SQL databases on my account. So using my best Queens English I told them where to go.

Now I'm in the market for a new web host. I have found a few but no descision has yet to be made. if anybody has any suggestions or ideas please let me know.

I spoke to one company who told me that my domain name was locked to the other company. What a bloody cheek. I paid for that domain and the buggers have locked it so I'm going to have to go back and get them to release it.

The funny thing is, that this company that is causing me so much trouble heads the top ten list of Web Hosts. Calls itself IX Web Hosting. No recommendation from me.

Adsense back on track

Just today I received an email telling me that my Magic Ad Tool account had been set up. This is supposed to add rotating clickbank advertising to my website pages. We'll have to see if it happens that way.

Hope to get a few more sites up over the weekend. It has been very tought over the past week or so to actually get anything done. Fingers crossed.

A New Website @last

At long last I have managed to set up another 'proper' Adsense website. Okay I know there are a few minor details to be taken care ofbut the main thing is that it is up.

If you want to take a look you will find it at
http://www.landscaping.read-free.info

Please take a look and let me know what you think. Be honest - I can take it! Any suggestions for improvements would be much appreciated.

It's taken much longer than I had hoped but now it's up I'm feeling rather pleased with myself. I might even try another later. Who knows, I might even get the hang of it.

Beta Blogger

I have just upgraded to the new Beta Blogger. It makes customising the blog a bit easier for somebody like me who doesn't have a clue. Okay so the Adsense box doesn't look quiet right yet but I'm working on it. I guess I'll end up choosing a new template in the end but it was fun trying things out.

More Information Overload

More Ideas. More Ebooks. More .pdf files. More time reading and doing sod all else.

I have been considering the best ways and subjects with which to increase content through visitor participation. The most obvious idea that I have read about is the forum method. If I am able to creat such a good site visitors might just be willing to post on a forum. A well used forum would be massive content generation, and hopefully more than a few backlinks if people bookmark it. However at this stage I have my doubts on being able to create anything close to the quality and quantity of some of the sites I have seen. I know you are supposed to start small but it still seems like an over whelming prospect.

The other idea is something like a review site. Each posted review would be an additional page provided self generating fresh content. But having ideas and putting them into practice is two totally different things. There never seems enough time to sit down and put the effort in without somebody looking over your shoulder and criticising me for wasting time on something that does not work.

I know that this will work. I've tried to pick apart the whole concept but it all boils down to the same thing. If I follow the instructions and do the best I can - IT WILL WORK !

Adsense - Really Great Ideas

Amoungst all the ebooks that I have read, I have found some really great ideas. Ideas which I feel would make great adsense sites. I might be wrong of course but I guess I won't know until I've tried. This is where the problem sets in. I am finding it unbelieveably difficult to get even once half decent site up at the moment. It is very frustrating. In amoungst the contents of Joel Comm's Adsense templates is something called HyperVRE. It's brilliant but only if you upgrade to Gold Membership. If you don't, your content is restricted to whatever the software can find on the open net and all the affilliate links belong to somebody else. Damn good marketing ploy but it costs 97 dollars. So trying to save up through the small change to get it.

Bloody hard though.

Really Unbelieveable

The amount of Adsense work I've managed to achieve since the last post is absolutly amazing. SOD ALL. She's had me doing decorating the spare room for a friend who's comming to stay. The car failed it's MOT so I've had to get that repaired. There has been visits to the school to discuss progress of all the children. Shopping and more shopping. several trips made because the shop messed up my prescription for my glasses. Loads of trips to collect Ebay goods from local area. (She lives on Ebay).

The purpose of this blog was to try and keep some sort of journal on my progress to an Adsense empire from a standing start. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever get any work done, as today I'm supposed to start the home work section of that IT training course I've been accepted on. I've had that a week and got nowhere. Better go before she gets back.

Adsense- on hold again

"So! Whewn are you going to have time to do your Adsense then?"

Today was the first day on myMCSA & MCSE training course. Needless to say Her Ladyship had something to say on the matter. The training is supposed to put me in a position to get a well paid IT job. While I'm training I'm supposed to keep my full time night job so when will I have time for her and the kids if I'm doing Adsense too? Answeres on a postcard please......

I guess it wouldn't be so bad if Adsense was bringing in a Joel sized cheque each month but as the tile says... Adsense NOVICE. So I'll just have to do what I can bit by bit and hope that something comes from it eventually.

Meanwhile it's still okay for me to set up all these paid surveys site that she wants to do while I'm slogging my guts out. I don't really mind if it means she can earn some money but I can't seem to explain clearly to her the potential of Adsense because my previous attempt was a total flop.

"So what's different about this time? The only person making any money is the person selling the templates!" What can I say?

Content or Not Content, So what's the Question?

Things slightly better today. Watch some videos again, read a few ebooks and tried to upload one of the templates. HTML site went up but the content was still that 'Ipsum doe crapum' stuff. Uploaded article folder and then article files seperately. No joy. Problably missing something very basic. tried looking for the answer online but come up empty. Going to have to write a whol lot of new content if all 1500 copies of this template system havw been sold. The big G doesn't like duplicate content. Does it count if I change the font colour to red?

Tomorrow I'll have to try the HVRE template to see if that does any better or should I say if I can do any better. I've been told of a once only option to upgrade to Gold member but I can't find out how much that is and there is no more money to spare until I have earn some.

Let's see what tomorrow brings!

Opps- I missed something!

I missed the articles out. Not a smart move by all accounts. Great website but no content so I took it down quick before Google dumped on me. I'll have to go back to the Adsense videos again. I'm sure Joel and Eric mentioned it in there somewhere. Anyway I was excited for a short while but I'll have another go tomorrow.

Joel sent me (and several thousand others no doubt) an email today. Apparently he's puzzled.I read the email and then I actually replied to it. I told him what I had been upto and the difficulties I faced at the moment. Whether he'll ever get to read it - I don't know. Just maybe....

I also went through the inbox today and started removing myself from mailing lists. It's called an information overload. All the 'Gurus' sending me emails about how their way of doing business is best. One guy offered a short email course on his 'way' and then almost daily thereafter an email offering to part me with my money for this that and the other.

Hopefully it works for them, but me, I can't get my head round it all. I'd rather be reasonably successful at one thing than totally rubbish at lots of things. So if it's all the same guys, I'm sticking with Joel Comm and Adsense.

Ok, it's time for bed have to be at work in 4.5 hours. I hate that job.

Adsense- Would be nice - Maybe!

Another day of having to do other stuff. More shopping, more gardening, more family time (shouldn't complain). it is just very frustrating not being able to just get on with the adsense work.

I noticed that Blogger seem to be having problems. Havr tried to replublish several times but keep getting error messages. Hope they sort it out soon. Best get on or I'll never get finished.

Adsense -Lunchtime reading!

Isn't it amazing that when you have something you really want to get on with, everything else under the sun gets in the way. I have been trying for the past two days to get the next Adsense site up. I did my research with the Traffic Estimator and of course I was surprised by the result. However it does give me somewhere to start.

The only thing that I have been able to do towards my Adsense business is to read Joel Comm's 3rd edition book during my break time at work. Unfortunatly my break time is usually about 1 .30 am GMT. The pitfalls of a night job.

Most of today was spent trying to take care of those little jobs around the house. You know, those jobs that really need a concerted effort or they will never get done. Like Gardening. Mowing the lawn, pruning the bushes and weeding the flower beds. Deep joy - NOT!

Here is a link to a very basic Lawn site. www.read-free.info/lawn

I realise it needs a lot of work doing to it but it's a start. Once things settle down I hope to be able to work on my sites and make them at least half decent. If anyone has any suggestions, hints or tips please feel free top leave a comment.

Must go.

Sunshine after the rain

Not a bad day considering I didn't get much done. This afternoon (GMT) I went for an interview at a IT training center and got accepted for training. In a nutshell this means I should be able to fix my own computer when the damn thing crashes. :-)

To my family this means that I will end up with MCSA, MCSE and a IT Security qualification. It also means that I will be in a position where I can get a much better job and leave that WHSh*t newpaper job. The very tiny downside is that It will take best part of 8 months to complete my training and I'll have to keep the night job in the meantime. Given the good news I didn't mind too much about getting lost on the way home and sitting in traffic in the pouring rain for nearly 2 hours.

On the Adsense front I did manage to play around with the traffic estimator and this has given me a good indication of where I'm heading.

More tomorrow.

And Now to Get Started.

Having read and viewedloads of ebooks and videos from Joel Comm's Adsense Templates I now must get started on putting up a web site. All the 'Guru's' recommend starting with something that you are interested in so with 150 subjects to choose from there must be something that sounds good or at least I might know something about.

I find that with all this information overload you can get a great many ideas but finding the time to put them into practice is something else. Her Ladyship is none too happy with the amount of time I spend in front of the computer and after the last batch of templates from another source which failed to impress anybody, she is very wary. Still the money is spent and it would be silly not to let me try and at least recoup the outlay. I've no doubt that any more would be most welcome though.

It seems the next step is to start researching a few keywords to see what might give me the best chance of success. Google Traffic estimator here we come....

That was fun!

Just spent the past few hours trying to placeAdsense on this blog. Only managed to get one half banner at the top but it wouldn't let me do any more until my Adsense account has been verified.

The manual also covers WordPress and Moveable Type. I guess I'll progress onto them in due course but for now I lay down in a darkened room might be inorder. These screens do your head in.
So here we are. A trainee Adsense millionaire in the making. Joel Comm's Adsense templates arrived in the post this morning and i can't wait to get started. As a complete newbie I haven't got a clue what I'm doing but I followed his instructions in his ebook "Getting Started with Blogging and Google Adsense". I guess I'm going to be doing a lot of reading over the comming weeks and months, just to find out what I'm supposed to be doing.

The templates took a fair chunk out of our budget and Her Ladyship was not really convinced. I'm going to have to earn something before I can spend any more money, but I guess that's fair enough.

As I write this I haven't even got any Adsense Ads set up yet on this blog so it's back to the manual.

I have one site up and 'running' so to speak. I muddled through but feel free to take a look and see what you think. www.golftraining.read-free.info

If any one out there who might by chance read this and have something constructive to add, please do. I'm going to need all the help I can get. If you're really brilliant I might even post your link for you.

I'll best get on now.
